Exotic, sweet smelling colourful mangoes are rich in nutritional values and are normally grown in the tropical regions of the world. Cultivation of mangoes in India dates back to 2000 B.C. Presently nearly 40% of world’s mangoes are produced from India. Known as the ‘King of tropical fruits’ different varieties of mangoes are processed for preparing many products such as juices, pulps, squashes, jam and pickles.

Nearly 50 different delicious varieties are cultivated in our country. The major mango growing states are Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar and Tamil Nadu.

In Tamil Nadu, Krishnagiri and other adjoining areas have rich mango cultivation.

In Tamil Nadu there are nearly 400 food processing units of which nearly 80% belongs to the category of small scale units. The remaining units are in the medium scale category with an average production capacity of 80 tonnes per day.

Krishnagiri district which is newly formed has great historical, cultural significance. Ancient Tamil King Athiaman who is known for his charity and kings of Vijayanagar dynasty ruled here. Rural population foster rich folk tradition. The district has many projects, institutions, factories and cultivable forms as symbols of prosperity.

Nearly 300017 hectares are under mango cultivation in this district providing the required quantity of raw materials needed for mango pulp industries.

Mangoes are seasonal fruits and are not available throughout the year and they cannot be preserved in the original form for long. To have the pleasure of tasting the mango virtually in every drop without losing its taste, flavour and colour at all times must have been a distant dream once, but it is a tasty reality now. Thanks to the state of art mango pulp processing initiatives run by the entrepreneurs who function with a vision and mission keeping quality as their life breath.
